It's an exciting time to join Merton's Children Services. As an outstanding authority Ofsted recognised that our “social workers build strong relationships with children...visits are purposeful and well documented, and records written to children are warm and analytical...and continued to maintain exceptionally high-quality support for children".

We are looking for social workers and experienced social workers to join our Family Support and Safeguarding Service.

We seek to build relationships with families in order to bring about sustainable change for children, young people and their families. We are determined to continuously improve our services by working in partnership to ensure that our work is high quality and effective.

Merton takes pride in being an inclusive and diverse borough. We are committed to listening to feedback from children and families, as well as feedback from partners and staff, so that we can ensure that our work is of the highest quality and meets the needs of the children and families of Merton.

As social worker or an experienced social worker, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with children and their family network to ensure children are safe and receive the support they need at the right time. We are committed to ensuring that social workers have a manageable workload to enable them to deliver best practice and ensure our service to children and families is of high quality and effective.

You will receive excellent support through reflective supervision and an enhanced training offer that supports our practice model. This includes opportunities to develop skills around systemic practice, signs of safety, motivational interviewing, restorative and trauma informed practice.

To find out more about the role please contact Trish O'Rorke - trish.ororke@merton.gov.uk

Interviews will take place on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th of March 2026.
