An exciting opportunity has arisen for a SEN Manager to join the Senior Management Team on a 1-year secondment opportunity within the London Borough of Merton’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Integrated Service (SENDIS).
The SEN Team Manager role represents a unique opportunity to join a high performing education service in a key leadership role, delivering high quality, flexible and responsive services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
The post-holder will maintain and develop good models of stakeholder engagement in decision-making and support effective co-planning and collaborative working between SEND staff and colleagues across education, children and adults social care and health.
Roles and responsibilities will include, to:
- Management of a Team of Assessment EHC Co-ordinators to ensure that casework is legally compliant whilst remaining person centred, pro-active and responsive to the needs of children and young people and their families
- Ensure that the voice and views of children, young people, parents and carers are heard and threaded through not only the EHCP but also in regards to strategic developments.
- Proactively keep up to date with SEND legislations and guidance and be able to identify and understand the key changes required to processes to fulfil the legislation and related guidance.
- Manage relationships with families, head teachers, Principals and SENCOs, inclusion staff, social workers, health and other relevant agencies effectively to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people under the relevant circumstances.
- Develop, consolidate and improve an area of specialism related and relevant to the current SEN context for the benefit of the service.
You will require:
- A degree or equivalent experience in education/health/social care
- Significant experience of management at a senior level
- Ability to develop and lead a staff team
- High standard of written and verbal reasoning skills
- Ability to analyse data and create developmental initiatives.
- Excellent organisational skills
