We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled Adults Safeguarding Strategic Development and Board Manager.

In this role you will be responsible for managing the Merton Safeguarding Adults Board’s (MSAB) strategic business planning processes and overseeing the governance and legal operation of the MSAB, with a clear partnership focus.

Through this role, you will oversee the work of the MSAB and ensure that there is continual learning and improvement within Safeguarding Adults in Merton, ensuring the Board fulfils its statutory duties, meeting national and local requirements.

You will possess excellent organisational, interpersonal and leadership skills to develop and sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders. You will be proactive in delivering results and engaging with the community and other partners.

You will ensure that strategies, policies, and procedures relating to safeguarding adults are relevant, up to date and embedded across all partner agencies.

This role is pivotal in ensuring that the work of the MSAB improves the lives of adults at risk and that Safeguarding Adults practice in Merton takes account of personal wishes and preferred outcomes.

You will also coordinate and complete Safeguarding Adults Review (SAR) processes on behalf of the Safeguarding Adults Board, and develop and oversee the work of the MSAB sub-groups.

You will take the lead in overseeing the reporting framework, including an annual report of the work of the MSAB and relevant Boards and Scrutiny Panels.  

As the post-holder, you will:  

  • Have extensive experience of safeguarding work relevant to the level and nature of the post.
  • Have extensive, sophisticated and up to date working knowledge of relevant national and local policy, statutory guidance and legislation in relation to the provision of social care services.
  • Be able to to communicate effectively with partners in statutory, voluntary and third sector organisations, in highly charged, complex or challenging situations to a wide range of audiences for different purposes and at different levels, including public speaking.
  • Be able to routinely explain professional reasoning, judgements and decisions made and record these in a clear concise way.
  • Have experience in the preparation, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of management information and producing recommendations for implementation, related to the field of health and social care commissioning or delivery.
  • Have consistent experience in promoting anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive practices in service delivery.
  • Hold the ability to influence organisational development pro-actively, using feedback from your area of responsibility.
  • Have experience of collating and analysing information from a range of sources to form a judgement and provide recommendations as appropriate.
